Say Never

Dad,

I don’t like that phrase “never say never.” I hear that a lot. My wife and I will never borrow any money again. I said it. We will never get divorced. I said it again. I will never inject myself with anything that isn’t prescribed. Man, I am on a roll. I believe that there are far too many things in life that we are afraid to say “never” about. I think everyone should do it. Not try it. Do it. It is called conviction, and though you will certainly find disappointment in your life, and you will not make all of your hopes and dreams come true, and you will fail to stick to your convictions sometimes, I have found that life is more fulfilling with conviction, and in order to make it happen, it requires some “nevers” and some “always’.”

I probably shouldn’t waste a conviction on Republicans, though.

Bryan.
