Ron Paul, Marijuana, Government

Son,

Ron Paul takes huge leaps of logic. There is a fundamental problem with his libertarian philosophy. That philosophy ignores the inter-dependence of modern society. Centralized government must take a larger role in a world where individuals States can no longer stand alone – Marijuana crosses the State borders like the wind. No one State can regulate the use of the drug traffic.

This is a hot button issue for me. I believe that drug addiction has reached pandemic proportions in this country and that disease is killing our children and our future. 1. Talk about huge leaps of logic! This pro-drug war philosophy is the same MISERABLY failed do-gooder mentality that brought us prohibition (of alcohol).

People didn’t stop drinking, in fact, the speakeasy scene is legendary!. Not only did it MISERABLY fail to stop alcohol use, it CREATED the mafia. Prohibition of drugs CREATES crime in two ways. First by criminalizing behavior, and second by creating a criminal market for criminal minds. The junkies who need big money to buy the artificially price inflated drugs are the people who would break into your home and KILL YOU AND YOUR FAMILY for your valuables.

People who push the drug war are dealers of misery who promote prostitution and illegal drug markets.

  2. It turns hopes and dreams into merely hopes and dreams? Pretty verbose for saying nothing. Hopes and dreams are immaterial, they’re intangible, and they will never be anything more. I’m sure you didn’t hope and dream to be conceited when you grew up, you probably wanted to be someone personable and well liked. Whats the matter? Did you get hooked on pot? No, like the rest of us, your hopes and dreams are simply goals that, in reality, mostly go unattained. Thats not due to drugs, thats due to reality being harder than we, as children, thought it was.

My personal motto: Freedom is Personal Responsibility. If a person wants to start doing drugs and waste his life on the couch playing video games, so be it. Its his choice to do with his life as he pleases. All in all, its not that bad. He could be a rich and successful playboy leaving bastard children around the world. Is that any better? Indeed, its worse. Much worse. Should we then make sex illegal? (I dare say you might try.) Of course not, but when you start trying to mandate what people can and can’t do with their lives, especially when its a personal choice that does not affect anyone else, then its not very hard to see how that line can easily slip past what you think is Right and Just, and pretty soon you’ll start seeing things the way the rest of us do.

    Let Freedom Reign.
