Shocking news. Tim Russert, the journalist of NBC and MSNBC fame has died of an apparent heart attack.

This writer has not been kind to Mr. Russert. We did not appreciate his managing of political debates. But that does not diminish our shock at the sudden and unexpected death of Mr. Russert.

Mr. Russert was at his best when moderating Meet the Press with a cadre of other journalists. He also hosted another program on cable. In this program Mr. Russert interviewed notable celebrities, politicians, and authors. This program found him in his element.
