Nancy Belle. I am a reader. Books have been my safe haven for a great part of my life. My children all marveled at my ability to shut everything out and escape the turmoil around me, just by picking up a book. Much of what I know about this world is from the written word. My education is much greater than what is shown on paper, simply because I can and love to read. Having come to my senior years I have stories to tell and opinions to share, hopefully for your pleasure or enlightenment. Yet, perhaps some may not be in agreement or find my stories boorish, that's alright, too. Here's to my exploring and finding my way, with words!

Postcards From the RNC, Robo Calls That Is!

I keep getting robo calls from the RNC…. They desperately need $75 from me to fight the biased media and drain the swamp. What?? That is roughly 1/12th of my total monthly income. I have no problem telling them I am living on Social Security and not much of that, but I’m talking to deaf hears. This robo. with the voice and name of one of my Missouri Reps, does not compute my reality. So they say how about $50 or $35? I repeat the same somber facts and with a desperation in his voice, he says “I understand, but we have no choice, we must defeat the Democrats, media and other vile entities and support our President. Can you invest $25 into your country to promote the Presidents agenda? Really?? I just hung up and added this new phone number to, an already large and growing sum of numbers related to the RNC (supposedly), my call blocked list.

If the RNC seriously wants to promote the President’s programs and according to them, theirs as well….. Shouldn’t they be taking names and kicking the asses of any and all Republicans, currently incumbent, who are not getting on board?? I don’t doubt there is already enough money in the RNC coffers to run my household up to and beyond my death. One Senator with one years salary could cover my Social Security payment for the next 16 years+. It’s time for the RNC and the DNC for that matter, to clear the halls. Start collecting dues from the ‘Good Ole Boys Club’ both monetarily and in a more participatory manner. Robbing the poor to support the rich, literally, is bad sport. Not that robbing anyone is good sport, just stop the robo calls already! That alone probably costs a mint and then some. Besides, no one wants to get a robo call. Maybe if I had a Senator or Representative to call me and say “Hi Nancy, how you doing?” and really care what the answer might be, that would go quite a way to impress me and anyone else. It would also give a caring, listening ear the knowledge and the reality their constituents live in.

It’s true the more money you have the more you spend, very true for individuals and I suspect for organizations as well. What is needed is a better disbursement, a more frugal attitude of paying what is required as opposed to finding all sorts of bat crazy ideas to spend, spend, spend and of course scores of bat crazy individuals who are always there to reap what they have not sown. Perhaps the fault is mine. If I were a true Republican I would have made the sacrifice asked of me and ate rice and beans for a month. However, I haven’t been a true Republican since Nixon resigned and have no regrets. Being an Independent has given me greater ability to choose from the best of the lot. The big problem for all of us…. The pickings have been mighty slim, for a great many years. There is a need to clean house, but that isn’t going to happen with me donating $25 or more to the RNC or DNC. It’s going happen at the voting booth and I hope to be around to see the day.

When Donald and Hillary were nominated for the respective parties as their candidate for POTUS, I bought a bumper sticker; WE’RE SCREWED 2016. It’s still there and I still get honked at, thumbs up or alternate digits up. Strangers still come up and say “Hey, really like your sticker”. Last year I knew they were my compadres, this year I suspect they think… I am their compadre. Even with the turmoil I still believe the United States of America is the greatest country on Earth and worth my effort to keep her that way. So this folks, is my frugal effort to do what I do best, write a little bit, pray a little bit and hope a lot, that all of us can fix what’s broken, get beyond the egos and personalities and hopefully soon. GOD BLESS AMERICA
