Regaining Respect for the Office of the Presidency.

We, in this country, have a proud history of respect for the office of the President. We rally around those who inspire us and lead us through troubled times. We have worked to separate the man from the office, and we have been successful in the past. There have always been jokes about the President, and comedians are supposed to push the envelope, to go where you don’t expect them to go. Something has changed, however, in the last decade. Where there was once reverence for the office and a certain degree of respect for the man in the White House, there is now complacency about the treatment of the Presidency. In previous generations, bad jokes about the President would have been met with a frown or, at best, a nervous chuckle. But today, the Presidency is the bread and butter of late night routines and gets only slightly better treatment in the mainstream media.

Racists and Birthers Are Not Just Dim-Witted Rednecks

In 1776 immigration was unchecked in the American colonies.  The people living here decided to form their own government and bypass the King’s tax man.  Those folks wrote some rules that defined our form of Government and who was eligible to hold office.  The President had to be a natural born citizen – meaning that […]

Letterman Defines Difference Between Himself and Leno

Dave Letterman is a classic comic. His timing is near perfect – but his willingness to take on controversial topics nears courageous – even at the expense of his own reputation. Dave tackles the topic of the difference between himself and Jay Leno. Listen for the joke on Dick Cheney:

Billy Crystal Sings for Jay Leno

Billy Crystal was Jay Leno’s first guest 17 years ago.  This song by Crystal for Leno seems very appropriate.  Crystal sings a medley in the fashion he originated as a host for the Oscars. Check him out – he is always entertaining:

John McCain with Jay Leno

Why does this happen.  After an election we see the real charm of the candidates who lost?  We sincerely wish McCain has just been himself during the campaign – America deserves a healthy dialogue on issues.  Check out McCain with Jay Leno – this is pretty good:

Leno, Bush Impersonator – Obama or Osama

Son, How is it that serious issues, couched in impersonation and silliness, become so darn funny?  This Jay Leno video from 2004 is almost prophetic.  The Bush impersonator refers to the ‘new Senator from Illinois as Osama.’ Check it out and get a good laugh. [wp_youtube]ql1MLMhBIyg[/wp_youtube] This guy would probably vote for George Bush forever […]
