McCain on ‘Saturday Night Live’
Live from New York, it was Senator John McCain, saying that he was thinking of some radically different strategies for the last three days of the presidential race.
“I thought I might try a strategy called the Reverse Maverick,’’ Mr. McCain told his interviewer. “That’s where I do whatever anybody tells me. I don’t ask questions, I just go with the flow. If that doesn’t work, I go to the Double Maverick. That’s where I go totally berserk and just freak everybody out. Even the regular mavericks.’’
Yes, it could only be “Saturday Night Live” on NBC, which snagged Mr. McCain for the last Saturday night of the presidential campaign. Doing the show kept Mr. McCain overnight in New York, away from the swing states or a Republican ones that he hopes to lock down, but beamed him into living rooms of potential voters across the country.
