For Miranda, A Special Granddaughter
Billy Collins is an inspirational modern poet. There is some amusing irony in this particular Colbert episode with Collins. Collins speaks to writing out of a ‘persona’. The irony is his interviewer is Colbert – a man who lives his life in a persona separate from himself. But this post is not about Colbert or Collins – I am thinking of Miranda.
While this is an amusing interview – the significance to me is the poem about a young woman. My mind raced to my granddaughter Miranda. She was my first born grand child. As first born, and obviously only grandchild, she captured my heart. Now a first year college student, Miranda has again emerged as a heart captivating grandchild.
