When The Emotionally Unbalanced Vote, They Always Vote For The Extreme

Lookout Friday! Here they come!  The emotionally unbalanced have found their candidate.  Donald Trump is someone who should never have happened in America – but he has – and it is because one political party began catering to the emotionally unbalanced about forty years ago, and the fall of economic prosperity by American citizens fed the imbalance.

How might we distinguish those of wacko level emotional disturbance?  It is not complicated.  Just look to the fringe of anything.

  • Religion – way off the charts wacko fanaticism.  These people scurry around the religion cable channels looking for someone to give their money to.  OR – conversely – they hold the banner of atheism up as witness to their profound intellect and ability to cut to the chase.
  • Politics – They like a guy like Trump.  Worship might be a better word.  He is like them.  In your face defiance.  No matter the cause.  The whole point of having a cause is to distinguish oneself from the dreary morbid redundancy of main stream life.  The cause itself is not particularly important – as long as it is an extreme.
  • Main Stream Media – Does anyone own a dictionary?  By definition “Main Stream” means “the ideas, attitudes, or activities that are regarded as normal or conventional; the dominant trend in opinion, fashion, or the arts.”  That is right – normal or conventional.  The emotionally unbalanced would say that red is actually blue – that definition does not count.

So what is the point? The point is that we must correct our culture to accommodate sanity.

A couple of culprits in this appearance of the dumb-ing down of America.  Not an actual dumb-ing down – just a shift to emotional reasoning that manifests as not-so-smart.

  • The shift in education from critical thinking to job training.
  • The rise of the technocrats.
  • The faltering of Labor Unions.
  • Thus the rise in economic insecurity
  • The rise of the wealthy class.

We are threatened with an American “Dark Ages”.  Feudal Lords ruled.  The peasantry dared not complain.

Lookout – here they come.

  1. Pretty extreme, emotional, fear inducing and feeling a lot of doom and gloom. What I have come to expect from the Dems and Libs. And pretty much why Trump got elected. As for MSM, too bad they no longer give a tempered and fair report of events. Maybe they won’t continue to be MSM? Re: Religion, only a small minority look as you have described. Most are reserved and compassionate. They believe in helping others. Don’t even claim Trump is getting Worship status, that absolutely belongs to our former president, whom the MSM literally fawned over. Training someone for a job does not eliminate them from learning ‘critical’ thinking. It is just a way to make sure there are workers qualified to provide what the public is demanding and not everyone can afford College nor is everyone qualified for College. Unions have long out lived their usefulness and now only serve has a drain on income or job prevention at worst. Economic insecurities have existed for as long as I have lived and beyond that. Sometimes more so than other times. There have always been the Wealthy and there have always been the poor. It will remain so as long as man exists. The USA is a far far way from feudal lords and mute peasantry. Our problem isn’t Trump it’s somehow ‘Compromise’ has been lost, a forgotten art. The ability to give a little here, ask for a bit more of this for a bit more of that. That doesn’t happen today and it should. It definitely wasn’t emotional imbalance that turned the tide to Trump, more like a tidal wave of disgust at our country being eaten alive by self serving interests, both internal and abroad. It can not be explained as simply as you have stated above and certainly calling a large portion of our country unbalanced isn’t going to start making any in roads to fixing anything. I give you your right to see it your way and claim my right to disagree. Yet, even that doesn’t go quite far enough to heal what’s broken.

  2. You affirm my point. Extremist emotionally unbalanced fanatics never compromise. MSM, as you say, is “the ideas, attitudes, or activities that are regarded as normal or conventional; the dominant trend in opinion, fashion, or the arts.” That is the definition – if you don’t like the ideas, attitudes, or activities that are regarded as normal” then what does that say about you? I am talking about a classic Bell Curve. There is the norm and then there are the fringe fanatics. I did not invent the terms – I am merely applying accepted definitions. This is not a personal attack on anyone – well, except maybe White Supremacists, Nazis, religious fanatics (who do not represent most Christians), and a few intelligent but emotionally unbalanced folks. Please only take this personally if it applies.
