Ohmydidhesayjihad
Ohmydidhesayjihad? Take a close look at what right wing religious fundamentalism produces. Deny the Holocaust? How about denying Evolution.? Ponder the real cause of the September 11, 2001, attacks on America? Ponder the real cause of Global Warming? Fundamentalism has become a joke to the thinking people of the 21st Century. Omydidhesayjihad is no joke! Neither are the ‘petty and cruel dictators’ who vigilantly stand in Christian pulpits every Sunday morning across America!
The abuse of authority, the abuse of position, and the abuse of the privilege of education will mark this time in our history as one of embarrassment – much like the Salem Witch hunts and the methodical, biblically justified, proliferation of slavery of a few centuries past.
WWJD is popular – but what would he do? Well, what did he say, “What you do to the least of these, you do to me.” Is that not clear? Is that as confusing as Ohmydidhesayjihad? Let’s get off the religious bandwagon and just talk about basic human ethics, morals, and decency. We don’t need to bomb abortion clinics to prove our point.
Liberal or Christian – call me what you want – A true liberal and a true Christian are the same thing.
My sadness is the necessity of a liberal application of a centralized government. If we were truly a nation of Christianity – the social programs of the Federal Government would not be necessary. Local communities and Christian CHURCHES would organize to take care of their own. Alas, that has not happened. The Federal Government – embarrassed by the lack of local responsibility – has gradually taken the necessary steps to ‘…insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity…’ As is their dictate in the Constitution.
If Americans do not like ‘cruel and petty dictatorship’ then they need to step up to the local plate and take responsibility for their own community.
Fundamentalism has become a shameful act of abuse of authority of religion – and any politician who courts that crowd – who encourages pettiness and cruelty, who encourages power and control, who encourages degradation of the weak – all in the self-interest of getting elected – is a shameful politician.
Shame on those who prey on the weak! Shame on those who resort to the Dark Arts of Evil in the name of ambition.
