Obama, faith, and Isaiah 40:31

Son,

Isaiah 40:31 –

but they who wait for the Lord shall

renew their strength,

they shall mount up with wings

like eagles,

they shall run and not be weary,

they shall walk and not faint.

I was reminded of this verse of scripture as I watched the debate in Austin, Texas, last evening. Hillary Clinton has invested her life in politics – and she is a master.

But something happened last night. Actually, the process of change in Obama is what caused me to reflect on the scripture. A year ago Obama struggled in the debates. Every commentator noted that the debates were the weak link in his candidacy.

His strength has been renewed and he was soaring on the wings of eagles. The debate on 2-21-08 was Obama’s finest performance in this venue. Obama was eloquent, he was patient, he was waiting. Rather than suffer the weariness of an extended campaign Obama seemed to be gaining strength. His campaign is not faint, it is strong and forceful, deliberate and purposeful, kind and gentle.

Barack Obama’s faith in America is carrying him to the White House.
