I am a hoarder of information, documents, letters, email, etc. Today I was forced to dig into the my archives for information someone wants, someone who had it, but didn’t take care of it. Any who I digress. While digging into the ramparts of my OLD emails, I found this little gem, from May of 2010…. So this new ranting and raving about poor abused Illegal immigrants here in the USA, well none of it, is new. Obama was president in 2010, not Trump and the same problems then, are the same problems now. The only BIG question would/could/should be WHY? This is the email that I received from a dear friend. At this particular time email was still a popular communication tool…….

Let’s Say I Break Into Your House

A lady recently wrote the best letter in the Editorials in ages!!!
It explains things better than all the baloney you hear on TV.
Her point is:

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.

Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely.

Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests. Let’s say I break into your house.
Let’s say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave.

But I say, ‘No! I like it here. It’s better than my house. I’ve made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors. I’ve done all the things you don’t like to do. I’m hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters:
You are Required to let me stay in your house
You are Required to feed me
You are Required to add me to your family’s insurance plan
You are Required to Educate my kids
You are Required to Provide other benefits to me & to my family
My husband will do all of your yard work because he is also hard-working and honest. (except for that breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my RIGHT to be there.

It’s only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I’m just trying to better myself. I’m a hard-working and honest, person, except for well, you know, I did break into your house and what a deal it is for me!!!

I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of cold, uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and bigoted behavior.

Oh yeah, and I DEMAND that you learn MY LANGUAGE!!! so that you can communicate with me.

Why can’t people see how ridiculous this is?!

along with your future Social Security funds and a lot of the former benefits of being an American Citizen.

There it is Folks, made up about a decade ago and the problems have not changed, because before now, no one in legislation wanted to risk their cushy political position to do anything concrete about it.

Today, the focus is on the separation of children from the adults who proclaim they are the parents or legal guardians of these innocents. Crying babies really do grab the attention of almost anyone with a heart. Although, the media isn’t really about heart these days. However, a child separated from even the most abusive of parent(s) will cry. Why? Because fearing the unknown is more powerful. Under George W. Bush, it was determined that extra care was needed in taking care of the innocents. Child pornography, sex trafficking, black market adoptions (serious problems then and now) are just a few things that could be going on. Bringing a child illegally over the border and in many cases this was after surviving a difficult trek through the desert, being carried or dragged across a treacherous river and/or perhaps being crammed into a semi-trailer or box car to be left abandoned in the hot sun somewhere, because the traffickers were about to be discovered. Just this morning I see that smugglers had placed over sixty people in a private home, rented from unsuspecting owners, with the intent of moving them into our society. These folks, according to the report, paid $9000 each to these smugglers to be brought over the border. That fact is troublesome to me. Because, supposedly, in Mexico and Central and South America, that would have been more than enough to support a family for a year or more. It is also problematic to me because, they claim to be so poor and this is a great reason in wanting to be in the USA. Nine thousand dollars, also would have been very useful in working on LEGAL immigration. Which brings us back to their ILLEGAL status and WHY? The money is coming from somewhere, the people are perhaps fearful of the legal process, BECAUSE they are less than honorable and have criminal backgrounds and perhaps continued criminal intent. This brings us back to the children, sometimes the child is only a pawn to illicit special care for the adult once they cross over that border line.

Many of these children who begin the trip do not finish, as often times neither do the adults. Many of those who are caught, tell us they have traveled for months to get here. From the middle of Honduras to Brownsville, TX (the nearest border crossing) is over 1500 miles. According to Google Maps this is about a 22 hour trip by automobile under normal traveling conditions. Many of these folks claim they are traveling by foot. They will experience a climate that is varied from very humid, tropical and sub-tropical to arid/desert. The terrains range from mountainous to flat. In other words not very hospitable for parents traveling with children.

As a responsible nation, we here in the USA must first consider that anyone illegally, bringing a child through those kind of hazards, is maybe, JUST maybe, exploiting that child. These children are not placed in concentration camps. Granted, the accommodations are, many times, hurriedly made up ie; Tent Cities, this is unfortunately a result of the huge numbers, daily coming across our border, but they are climate controlled and made as comfortable as possible. Much better than surviving a torrential rain, sleeping on the desert floor or beside a highway in the middle of nowhere.  The children are checked for health concerns, given the opportunity to bathe and are being bathed if very small. Basic hygiene is provided. They are fed and given proper hydration. Clean clothes and whatever other comforts they may need. Given the very large numbers of persons coming across, our government has done a spectacular job in getting the illegals accounted for and as accurately as possible.

This has been a problem for many years. It needs to be un-politicized and fixed. We as a nation of good people, who enjoy our freedoms are being exploited in many ways. One big way is being portrayed by media, as abusers of children and poor people just looking to have the same freedoms we share. I witnessed a young women on the news recently, she was part of a six person focus group, CBS has interviewed. Three conservatives and three liberals. An excellent attempt to see from all sides. Well, she stated she was the daughter of illegal immigrants and did not agree with the other statements made in favor of the border wall and more regulation on those who come over illegally. Her comment that, we who are born here, only have citizenship as a result of ‘Dumb Luck’, that comment did not sit well with me personally and would not have set well with any of my ancestors, some of whom have been here nearly five centuries. Even those who more recently came over, would have shook their heads over such an arrogant comment. The struggles they endured were not just dumb luck. The efforts of my ancestors helped develop a country that is free, many of my ancestors immigrated here LEGALLY and made the effort to be a part of this great country in every way possible, contributing their individual skills to helping this great country grow and prosper. Her comment only confirms to me, that she and many others don’t really appreciate what the USA is all about and probably don’t want to be a real part of our continued growth, but it seems they just want to exploit what we have. I could be wrong, but I don’t think so.

Congress needs to get off its duff and start making real change in our immigration law, keeping a guard on how these children are being treated, by those who have brought them in, not about those who are now charged to take proper care of several THOUSAND children. They need to fund the border wall. The American Media needs to start telling it straight. This isn’t about Democrats or Republicans, Conservatives or Liberals, it’s about preserving what so many of our ancestors have worked for. Protecting our heritage is a priority! The USA has not evolved because of ‘Dumb Luck’! We just don’t need to be slapped in the face with words like “Racists” or “Elitists”, because we all know this country was built by many races and ethnic backgrounds, but it was made as a nation of laws to protect our freedoms and the need to continue that is great.
